Got Skill? Try Balancing Consistency & Intensity
Techniques and methods are easily the focus of any workout approach.
Intangibles however to working out are consistency and intensity, which are things you cannot teach or train.
Anyone can devise a workout plan or teach a technique ...
📌 But if a consistent approach is not taken, and intensity added in small, periodized "doses", results will be limited, and a lot is left in the gym!
Consistency might be the biggest thing people struggle with when trying to get into working out.
Some people can muster up a crazy, intense work ethic once they get into the gym, but getting to the gym is the problem.
Failing to get to the gym consistently will prevent anyone to see the “full fruits of their labor” and effort.
PRO TIP: Being reasonable in your availability is the first step to getting consistent.
Many people think at first, they should be at the gym 5 or 6 days a week, but they need to step back and see when they can be at the gym.
This might only be 3 or 4 times to start.
Too many damn times, when people start off a program and fail to hit the high mark they set for themselves, they quit all together. Start off with common sense and give yourself a fighting chance to work into a routine and consistent flow.
Intensity goes hand in hand with consistency.
Some people can get to the gym but fail to truly do anything when there. Having poor workouts are in actuality some of the biggest time (and money) wasters one could have.
If you are putting in the time (and money), make sure the effort follows. There is nothing more disheartening than investing a chunk of your life into something like fitness and attempting to get into shape, only to get poor return on that investment.
Do what you need to do to keep your workouts a challenge. Have a plan set out and know your goals.
Getting a workout buddy is a big help as well. This will help in regard to pushing you and challenging yourself.
You are working out, not hanging out.
Remember, there is no reason to do anything if you are going to do it in a lackluster manner.
Do it with passion or don't do it at all! 👊🏼
